Dubai Student Earns Distinction in EStars BTEC in Esports – A Story of Passion and Perseverance

Today we are shining a spotlight on one of our outstanding online learners, 13-year-old Pavel, who lives in Dubai. Pavel completed the EStars BTEC in Esports (Level 2), finishing with a Distinction, the highest grade possible – proving the power of flexible, high-quality online learning with EStars.

A Passion for Gaming

With a clear goal of becoming a game designer, Pavel chose the course to build the knowledge and skills he’ll need for the future. He wanted to understand what makes some games so successful, and to learn how to apply this insight to his own designs one day. Determined to get ahead, he took the course outside of his school hours, showing both maturity and commitment. 

The course provides a comprehensive insight into the business of esports, exploring the key stakeholders within the industry, genres of games, tournaments and the essential elements to build a successful esports organisation. 

A Course Built for Success

EStars is the only organisation accredited by Pearson to deliver the BTEC Level 2 in Esports fully online. 

The programme is made up of two units, each broken down into clear and engaging lessons. Every lesson follows the same structure: it begins with a short knowledge check to review previous learning or test prior understanding, followed by an education video created by experienced teachers and esports industry experts. Learners then complete interactive activities that build on the video content, along with homework tasks to reinforce understanding.

To make sure every learner is supported, the course provides a comprehensive syllabus, a simple guide to Moodle — our learning management system — and clear guidance on using Pearson’s assessment platform. Together, these tools ensure that students always know what to expect, how to progress and how their achievements will be assessed.

A Journey of Growth

From his first induction call, Pavel embraced the challenge. It wasn’t before long that he completed Unit 1 and its assessment, earning the second-highest grade. Rather than settling, he pushed harder, approaching Unit 2 with determination. In a matter of weeks, he had designed a full esports organisation – complete with business plan and budget – and was ready for his final assessment.

With feedback, perseverance, and ongoing encouragement from the EStars team, Pavel resubmitted his work to aim for the top grade. His commitment paid off.

Outstanding Achievement

Pavel not only completed the course – he did so with a Distinction, achieving the highest grade overall. His success shows that with discipline, motivation, and the right guidance, online learners can excel just as much as those in traditional classrooms.

In Pavel’s own words:

“I loved this course and how easy it was to understand everything. The lessons were short but effective, and the support from my mentors was amazing. They always made sure I understood and helped me aim higher. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone my age — you can learn at your own pace and still get a qualification equal to a GCSE.”

Looking Ahead

Armed with his new qualification, Pavel already has an edge for future studies and career opportunities. He now speaks the language of the industry he dreams of entering and has the confidence to keep building on this foundation.
