The UAE Ministry of Education has introduced a new School Inspection Framework for the 2025–2026 academic year, setting out how public schools will be assessed across teaching, student wellbeing, safety and day-to-day operations.
For parents, the framework provides a clearer picture of the standards schools are expected to meet. For educators and school leaders, it outlines the areas inspectors will examine during visits throughout the year. The framework covers four key areas: professional compliance, educational services, school facilities, and health and safety.
Student wellbeing, inclusion and learning at the heart of new inspections
One of the most significant aspects of the new School Inspection Framework is its emphasis on student wellbeing, inclusion and the quality of learning. Schools must fully implement the national child protection policy and establish clear procedures for responding to bullying, abuse and neglect. Staff are expected to receive appropriate training, while schools must maintain accurate records and provide support for students who require psychological or social assistance. Additionally, inspectors will assess how effectively schools create safe and supportive environments where students can thrive both academically and personally.
The framework also reinforces the UAE’s commitment to inclusive education. Schools are required to provide suitable support for Students of Determination and learners with additional educational needs, including accessible facilities, individual learning plans and appropriate assessment arrangements. Importantly, the regulations prohibit schools from excluding students on the basis of disability, placing inclusion firmly at the centre of school quality.
Alongside wellbeing and inclusion, inspectors will review the quality of teaching and learning. Schools must follow approved curriculum requirements, provide appropriate learning materials and ensure continuity of learning during unexpected disruptions. Meanwhile, inspectors will examine how effectively digital learning platforms are being used and whether students have access to the resources needed to participate fully in lessons. Together, these measures reflect the Ministry’s focus on creating safe, inclusive and high-quality learning environments across UAE public schools.
Safety Standards Extend Beyond the Classroom
Health and safety requirements feature prominently throughout the new framework. Schools must demonstrate compliance with fire safety regulations, emergency preparedness procedures and visitor management protocols. Regular drills, valid certifications and clear evacuation plans are also required.
Furthermore, inspections will cover transport arrangements, laboratory safety, school clinics, sports facilities and food services. For parents, these requirements provide reassurance that student safety remains a central consideration in school operations.

The new School Inspection Framework reflects a broader approach to evaluating school quality in the UAE. Rather than focusing solely on academic delivery, inspections will consider the full student experience, including wellbeing, inclusion, safety and the learning environment.
