IB Results 2026 will be released on Monday, 6 July, marking an important milestone for students across the UAE and around the world. For many learners, the results will determine their next steps, including university admissions, scholarships and future study plans.
Students will be able to access their results online through the official IB candidate portal from 12pm GMT. To log in, they will need the personal code and PIN provided by their IB coordinator.
This year’s results carry particular significance for students in the UAE and across the Gulf region. Due to regional security concerns during the examination period, students did not sit their final IB examinations. Instead, the International Baccalaureate implemented its Non-Exam Contingency Measure (NECM) following discussions with the UAE Ministry of Education. The alternative assessment process was designed to ensure students could still receive valid results for university applications.
What Your IB Score Means for University Applications
The IB Diploma Programme is scored out of a maximum of 45 points. Students must achieve at least 24 points to earn the diploma, while the global average typically sits around 30 points.
University requirements vary significantly. Many competitive institutions look for scores of 35 points or above, while highly selective universities may ask for 38 points or more. Some of the world’s most competitive programmes can require scores exceeding 40 points.
Students should focus on the specific conditions outlined in their university offers rather than comparing their results with general benchmarks.
What to do After Receiving Your Results
Students applying through UCAS should check their university application status as soon as results are released. In many cases, universities receive IB results directly. However, some institutions may require students to submit their results independently.
It is important to keep email accounts and phones accessible throughout results day in case universities need additional information. Students should also be prepared to contact admissions teams if they have questions about offer decisions.
Options if You Miss Your University Offer
Missing an offer does not necessarily mean losing a university place. Some universities may still accept students who narrowly miss their conditions, while others may offer alternative courses or deferred entry. Students also have the option of exploring UCAS Clearing, which allows applicants to secure places on courses with remaining vacancies. Alternatively, those wishing to improve specific grades can retake IB subjects in a future examination session. Whatever the outcome, students should remember that multiple pathways remain available. School counsellors, university admissions teams and IB coordinators can all provide guidance on the next steps.
