Horizon International School (HIS), the vibrant educational community nestled in the heart of Jumeirah, proudly celebrates the outstanding success of its alumnus, Lewis McKenzie, who has been recognised by OxfordAQA for attaining the Highest Mark in the World in A Level Geography.

The prestigious recognition was presented at OxfordAQA’s Go Further Awards 2025, which honour pupils who achieve the highest examination marks globally or regionally across a range of subjects at International GCSE and AS/A Level.

A Journey of Dedication and Discovery

Having earned the Highest Mark in AS Level Geography in the UAE and Gulf Region last year, Lewis McKenzie’s global recognition in A Level Geography marks another exceptional milestone in his academic journey. Known for his exemplary work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and analytical thinking, Lewis’s fascination with the interconnections between human and physical geography has been a driving force behind his success.

Lewis is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media at the University of Wollongong in Dubai, where he aims to apply his geographical insights to explore sustainable solutions within the corporate sector.

Reflecting on his achievement, Lewis said:

“Although I faced a fair few obstacles that tested me throughout my A-Levels, winning this award has shown me that with hard work and the continuous support of my amazing teachers and family around me, pretty much anything is possible including being best in the World!”

Pride Across the Horizon International School Community

As part of this recognition, Lewis attended OxfordAQA’s Go Further Awards Ceremony, which celebrated outstanding students across the Gulf region for their top results.

Stephen Quinn, Principal of Horizon International School, commented:

“We are incredibly proud of Lewis McKenzie for this remarkable achievement, which places him among the top-performing students globally. His success speaks to his curiosity, determination, and love of learning, as well as the expertise of our teachers who continually encourage pupils to think deeply and aim high. It’s a proud moment for our entire community and a reminder of what can be achieved when passion meets purpose.”
