The road to She Runs Dubai 2025 officially began on Friday, September 12, with an inspiring launch event at Zinn Sports City Dubai. The evening brought together women’s groups, community champions, and event partners in a powerful celebration of sport, wellness, and empowerment.
Passing of the Baton Ceremony
At the heart of the evening was the symbolic Passing of the Baton Ceremony, which introduced six She Runs Community Champions:
- Sanjana Karia – blends movement, motherhood, and motivation to inspire women to run their own race.
- Dr. Shefali Verma – functional medicine doctor and wellness advocate guiding women to heal from within.
- Lisa Campbell – founder of Ultimate Athletics, championing inclusive, high-performance coaching for all ages.
- Ava Hall – 14-year-old student-athlete from Arbor School, youth sports leader, and Unified Games Ambassador.
- Laila Labib – Special Olympics athlete leader, gymnast, TEDx speaker, and future assistant coach.
- Atiqa Asif Mir – 10-year-old rising motorsport star, one of only three girls worldwide chosen for the prestigious Mini Class.
Each champion, dressed in ASICS’ “What’s Your Cause?” kit, shared their story and personal “why,” reinforcing the message that “if you have a body, you are an athlete.”
Voices of Inspiration
The event was guided by Nadia Swan, seasoned presenter, broadcaster, and journalist with four decades of media experience in the Middle East and the UK.
Adding depth to the programme, Suzanne Woodward of Fit Republik spoke about the importance of community in helping women prioritise health and create space for wellbeing in daily life.
