In the United Arab Emirates, 2026 has been proudly declared the ‘Year of Family’, a national call to place families at the heart of every community and to nurture the bonds that hold society together.

At NPE Schools, The Royal Academy & The Bloomington Academy, Ajman and The Hope English School, Sharjah, this vision gels deeply with our long-standing belief that education thrives when schools and families walk hand in hand. From the very first day a child steps into our classrooms, we treat parents not as external observers but as essential partners in a shared journey of growth, discovery, and belonging.

At NPE Schools, parents are partners in learning, not observers.

Creating One Great Family Across Our Schools

A family is the smallest, yet most powerful nucleus of society, when nurtured with love, respect, and open communication, its positive energy ripples outward, to neighbours, to the wider community, and ultimately to the nation. By anchoring our school culture in this principle, we aim to create a microcosm of ‘One Great Family’ where every child feels seen, every parent feels valued, and every teacher feels supported. This philosophy is a daily practice that shapes how we design programmes, celebrate milestones, and solve challenges together.

From our inception, NPE Schools have ensured parental involvement into school life looping them into the rhythm of our academic calendar. Below are some of the flagship initiatives that bring this partnership to life.

Education works best when home, school and community walk together.

Learning Together Through Family Days

Family days of learning together and laughing together is one of our specialities. Each term we host ‘Family Days’, open house events where parents join their children for interactive workshops, sports, and creative projects. Whether it is building a simple robot, painting a mural, or solving a maths puzzle, families experience firsthand the joy of collaborative learning. These days break down formal barriers, allowing parents to see their children’s strengths in action and giving teachers a chance to understand each family’s unique culture and aspirations.

Literacy flourishes when stories are shared. Our ‘Together We Read’ initiative pairs parents with students for weekly read aloud sessions, both on campus and at home. Parents select books that reflect their heritage, while teachers provide guidance on engaging discussion techniques. The outcome is a richer vocabulary for children, stronger bonds between generations, and a community that celebrates diverse narratives.

‘Together-We-Shine’ is a series of co curricular clubs, where parents volunteer as mentors, coaches, or guest speakers. A mother who is a local architect might lead a design workshop, while a father who works in renewable energy could guide a sustainability project. By tapping into parents’ professional expertise, we enrich the curriculum and give students real world role models.

In line with the UAE’s emphasis on holistic family health, we invite school nurses, nutritionists, and mental health professionals to run workshops for parents. Topics include balanced nutrition, screen time management, and stress relief techniques. When parents adopt healthy habits at home, children mirror those behaviours, creating a culture of wellness that extends beyond school gates.

Growing Belonging Across the School Community

The results of these initiatives are tangible. Attendance at school events has risen over the past years, and student satisfaction surveys show a marked increase in feelings of belonging. Teachers report higher engagement levels and a deeper understanding of each child’s home environment, allowing for more personalised instruction.

In the spirit of the UAE’s Year of Family, NPE Schools reaffirm that education is a collaborative bond between home, community, and school. By keeping parents and children at the centre of our story, we nurture not only academic excellence but also the human connections that turn a group of individuals into one great, caring family. Together, we are building a future where every child feels supported, every parent feels empowered, and every community thrives on shared values of empathy, respect, and love.

One great family, united by learning, respect and shared values.
