At Brighton College Dubai, wellbeing is not a standalone initiative—it is the foundation of everything the College stands for. It shapes every facet of College life, influencing leadership decisions, enriching classroom experiences, and guiding how every pupil and staff member is nurtured and supported. Here, wellbeing is a strategic commitment, fully embedded into the College’s culture and embraced by the entire community as a shared responsibility.

A Culture of Care — Led from the Top

The provision is both holistic and visionary. A dedicated full-time counsellor acts as the Head of Wellbeing and works in synergy with the Head of Pastoral, and an expert team of pastoral leaders across all key stages. Pupil-led Wellbeing Ambassador programmes amplify pupil voice, fostering peer-to-peer support and empowering pupils to lead meaningful change in promoting emotional and mental health. Wellbeing is seamlessly integrated into the curriculum through weekly PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) and dedicated wellbeing lessons, ensuring regular opportunities for reflection, discussion, and growth. We also use UHQ to conduct regular wellbeing check-ins and have a notable number of pupils trained as Mental Health First Aiders, enhancing our peer support provision.

Staff Wellbeing Isn’t Optional — It’s Essential

Staff wellbeing is treated with the same level of care and strategic importance. Tailored professional development, regular staff consultation, and a dynamic and inclusive Sunshine Committee ensure all colleagues feel heard, supported, and valued. The Sunshine Committee plays a central role in cultivating joy and community spirit—organising weekly Wednesday treats, “Secreto Amigo” gift exchanges, desk celebrations for birthdays, and regular excursions such as hikes and boat trips. These thoughtful gestures and shared experiences foster connection and belonging, reinforcing the culture of appreciation and mutual care.

Equipping Pupils for Life Beyond the Classroom

Brighton College Dubai’s wellbeing provision equips pupils with the emotional literacy, self-awareness, and coping strategies essential for navigating life’s complexities—well beyond the classroom. By prioritising both mental and physical health, the College ensures that pupils achieve not only academic excellence, but also the confidence and compassion to make meaningful contributions to a rapidly changing world.

What truly distinguishes Brighton College Dubai is the strength of its relationships. It is a place where every individual is seen, supported, and uplifted. The sense of connection, trust, and care across pupils, staff, and families is tangible—making each day purposeful and rewarding. BCD believes that connection, relationship and wellbeing are the foundations of academic excellence.

It’s Not a Service. It’s a Lived Experience.

At Brighton College Dubai, wellbeing is not a service—it is a lived experience. It defines the community and underpins a belief that excellence can only thrive when people feel safe, supported, and truly valued.
