Abu Dhabi Nurseries Embrace Emirati Heritage with ‘Al Saf Al Emarati’ Programme

Celebrating Emirati traditions in early education

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has announced that 11 private nurseries across the emirate have begun implementing the Al Saf Al Emarati (The Emirati Classroom) programme. The initiative provides a culturally enriched learning experience rooted in Emirati heritage, national values, and the Arabic language. Its aim is to instil a strong sense of national identity in children from an early age and nurture a generation deeply connected to their community and traditions.

Led by Emirati Educators

Designed for children aged two to four, the programme is led by Emirati educators who integrate cultural elements into daily Arabic-language lessons. Using creative teaching methods such as storytelling, heritage-based activities, and the inclusion of traditional proverbs, poetry, and cultural expressions, teachers create immersive and engaging learning environments.

Building Cultural Belonging through Language

These culturally inspired tools not only help enhance children’s Arabic language skills but also play an important role in developing national pride and a sense of belonging. By strengthening children’s emotional connection to their identity at a formative age, Al Saf Al Emarati supports ADEK’s vision of nurturing confident, culturally grounded young learners.
