Students Showed Resilience During an Unusual Academic Year

This year’s results came after Diploma examinations across the UAE were cancelled following disruption across the region. Despite the uncertainty, students continued their studies and assessments with determination.

Nicholas Rickford, Principal of Sunmarke School, praised the achievements of the graduating class.

“This has been an exceptional year for our students, made all the more remarkable by the disruption across the region and subsequent cancellation of Diploma examinations. Despite this uncertainty, our students remained focused, adaptable and determined. These excellent results are a testament to the strength of character that Fortes Education seeks to nurture. We could not be prouder of how our IBDP students rose to meet such an unprecedented challenge.”

Character and Community Remain Central to Student Success

Beyond academic performance, Sunmarke School says the Class of 2026 demonstrated kindness, leadership and resilience throughout the year.

Jehan Toubia, Head of Sixth Form at Sunmarke School, reflected on the achievements of the graduating cohort.

“This cohort has experienced a year unlike any other. Faced with uncertainty and constant change, they showed an extraordinary ability to adapt while never losing sight of their goals or their commitment to one another. What has stood out most has been the way they celebrated each other’s successes, supported one another through setbacks, and continued to lead with kindness and integrity. Their results are a reflection not only of their academic ability, but of the character they have demonstrated every step of the way. We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and excited to see all they will accomplish as they begin the next chapter of their journey.”

Graduates Secure Places at Leading International Universities

The Class of 2026 will now continue their education at universities across the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and the Middle East.

Students have secured places at prestigious institutions including Institut Français de la Mode, University College London, Trinity College Dublin and the University of Edinburgh. These destinations reflect both the international recognition of the IB Diploma and the broad range of academic interests pursued by Sunmarke graduates.

Students and Parents Reflect on the IB Experience

One student highlighted how the Diploma Programme encouraged deeper learning beyond memorising facts.

“I have enjoyed the IBDP because subjects don’t focus solely on academics and memorising facts, rather, they help students gain a deeper understanding of topics as well as developing critical thinking skills, enabling us to deduce solutions ourselves.”

Parents also recognised the personalised support provided throughout the Sixth Form journey.

“As parents, we are grateful that our son has been studying his last two years at Sunmarke, it was a good decision. Your academic support and guidance during these two years has been invaluable to him and will stay with him forever.”

Preparing students for university and beyond

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is widely recognised for preparing students with the academic knowledge, critical thinking and independent learning skills required for higher education.

At Sunmarke School, this approach is combined with personalised learning, character development and global awareness. As part of Fortes Education, the school continues to place equal emphasis on academic achievement, wellbeing and developing confident young people who are ready to succeed in university and beyond.

For parents exploring senior school options, the Class of 2026 results demonstrate the value of an education that supports both academic excellence and personal growth. As another successful cohort graduates, Sunmarke School continues to build on its reputation as one of Dubai’s strongest IB schools, helping students achieve excellent outcomes while preparing them for the opportunities and challenges of the future.
