The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) celebrated 283 graduates from 25 nationalities at its 15th Commencement Ceremony, attended by students, families and dignitaries. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, it recognised graduates in fields including artificial intelligence, biotechnology, computer science and renewable energy, with women making up over 55 per cent of the Class of 2026.
AURAK Global Academic Growth
The ceremony took place against a backdrop of recent international rankings for the university. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject, AURAK’s Business and Management Studies programme was placed among the top 450 globally. Its Computer Science and Information Systems programme also featured in the 701–750 band worldwide.
Alongside these rankings, the university continues to develop academic links with institutions in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. These partnerships support student exchange opportunities and wider collaboration in teaching and research. For students and families reviewing higher education options, such indicators often form part of how programme strength and international engagement are assessed, alongside curriculum and career outcomes. Guest of Honour H.E. Dr. Natasha Ridge, Executive Director of the Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, addressed graduates with a focus on perseverance, humility and integrity as they prepare to enter the workforce. She described graduation as a transition into professional life rather than the conclusion of education.
AURAK President Prof. Bassam Alameddine highlighted the university’s ongoing development and its expanding international links. He stated,
“You graduate from AURAK at a time of remarkable institutional progress, stronger academic visibility, expanded partnerships, and growing global recognition. We also continue to strengthen our partnerships with leading universities across the world, notably in theUnited States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, with one clear objective, to create greater opportunities for our students in learning, research and academic mobility.”
Student Voices Reflect Determination and Growth
Two student representatives addressed the ceremony in valedictory speeches that reflected on their time at the university. Yassmin Gholam, representing the Master’s programmes, spoke about balancing postgraduate study with professional and personal commitments.
Hana Rahiman, an undergraduate Computer Science graduate, reflected on how her studies had reshaped her understanding of success, encouraging peers to remain curious, resilient and open to continuous learning.
Why AURAK Graduation 2026 Matters for UAE Education
AURAK Graduation 2026 also reflects broader developments within higher education in the UAE, particularly the continued expansion of programmes in technology, sustainability and innovation-related disciplines. The composition of this year’s graduating cohort highlights the university’s international profile, with students drawn from more than 60 nationalities. This diversity is increasingly characteristic of the UAE’s higher education sector, where institutions continue to attract students from a wide range of academic and cultural backgrounds.
As national investment in advanced industries and digital transformation continues, universities across the country are placing greater emphasis on subjects such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, engineering and data science, which remain central to current academic and industry priorities.
