Education UAE speaks with Geoffrey on Alef Pathways’ GESS Award win and its impact on personalised learning in the region.

Education UAE: Congratulations again on your GESS Award win. What does this recognition mean to you and your organisation?

Geoffrey: Thank you. This award is a meaningful validation of the approach we have taken with Alef Pathways – that personalised, AI-powered learning can genuinely help students close gaps, progress at their own pace, and stay motivated across subjects like Math, Science, Arabic and English. For our team, it reinforces that we are on the right path. And it strengthens our commitment to continuing this work, empowering educators, inspiring learners and transforming education one classroom at a time.

Education UAE: Tell us about your winning project/initiative/product. What inspired its creation, and what challenge were you aiming to solve?

Geoffrey: Alef Pathways is an AI-powered adaptive learning platform designed to support students in Grades 5 to 12 across Math, Science, Arabic, and English. It was created to address a persistent challenge: learning gaps that begin early and widen over time. UAE students have historically underperformed in reading, mathematics, and science, as reflected in PISA results, and by the time students reach age 15, traditional interventions often come too late. We wanted to build a solution that identifies and addresses these gaps early, giving every student the support they need to succeed. The platform uses a four-step pedagogical model, diagnose, plan, remediate, and evaluate to pinpoint learning gaps, create tailored learning paths, deliver interactive, culturally relevant content, and provide continuous real-time feedback. Its AI Tutor offers just-in-time guidance, scaffolding, and prompts that build comprehension and metacognitive skills.
