The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research have announced an early spring break for all schools and universities across the country. Authorities confirmed that the spring break will now run from Monday, 9 March, to Sunday, 22 March. The decision applies to all government and private schools, as well as universities, covering students, teaching staff and administrative personnel.
Revised Academic Calendar
According to the 2025 to 2026 academic calendar, the last day of school had originally been scheduled for 13 March, followed by the start of spring break. However, in light of current regional tensions and security concerns, authorities decided to bring forward the holiday period.
Earlier, distance learning had been extended until Friday, 6 March, as officials continued to monitor the regional security situation. Classes initially shifted online from Monday, 2 March, through Wednesday, 4 March, following developments in the region.
Coordination Across Emirates
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority issued a statement aligning with the federal ministries’ decision, ensuring consistency across Dubai. The move to online classes is described as a precautionary measure amid heightened regional tensions, particularly following missile and drone attacks launched by Iran against Gulf states, including the UAE, after recent escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel.
Safety and Continuity
Authorities have urged students, parents and staff to remain updated through official communication channels. They emphasised that the measures are intended to prioritise safety while maintaining continuity in education across the UAE.
