Degrees issued by 34 UAE-based universities are now automatically recognised as part of a new pilot initiative launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The move allows graduates from participating higher education institutions to receive immediate recognition of their qualifications, supporting the UAE’s zero government bureaucracy agenda and improving efficiency across the national higher education system.

Streamlining Degree Recognition Across the UAE

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has confirmed that 34 UAE-based higher education institutions have joined the first phase of the automatic recognition initiative. This enables graduates to bypass traditional qualification recognition procedures and access government services more efficiently.

Since its launch, more than 25,000 graduates have already benefited from the service. The initiative will next be expanded to include Emirati students studying abroad under Ministry-supervised scholarships, ensuring seamless access to government services regardless of location.

Supporting Graduate Progression and Employment

The automatic recognition initiative highlights the Ministry’s commitment to simplifying processes and accelerating graduates’ transition into postgraduate education or employment. By removing the need for additional qualification recognition, graduates can more easily meet government, residency, and visa requirements.

This streamlined approach strengthens graduates’ readiness for the next stage of their academic or professional journeys while supporting wider national workforce objectives.

Ministry Commitment to Digital and Integrated Services

Ahmad Yousuf Al Nasser, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary for Higher Education Operations Sector at MoHESR, said,

“Linking 34 HEIs in the first phase of the automatic recognition initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the national recognition system through efficient, flexible services that support students and HEIs and align with societal and labour market needs. We continue to expand our HEI network, increasing inclusion under automatic recognition and advancing an integrated, digitally driven system for future service development.”

The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s broader service for recognising qualifications issued by UAE-based institutions. Graduates and employers can verify recognised qualifications through an approved QR code, which officially confirms recognition in line with established regulations and procedures.

Digital Tools Enhancing Qualification Verification

As part of its services, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research offers electronic tools to support qualification recognition. These include verification of Ministry-issued recognition and digital reports for qualifications obtained from outside the UAE.

These tools ensure data reliability, ease of use, and faster access for relevant authorities, further reinforcing the UAE’s position as a leader in digitally enabled public services.
