Bloom World Academy (BWA) has welcomed Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Director General, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), to the school’s official inauguration ceremony, which showcased the school as an inspiring new world of education and the benefits of having a later start time.

Dr Abdulla was greeted by Founding Principal, John Bell, along with the school’s teachers and over 360 students from 56 nationalities who sang the UAE national anthem and the school’s official song, written, composed and performed by the school’s music teacher and students from all year groups.

The first school in the UAE to have a later start time of 9.00 am

“Bloom World Academy is the newest member of a private school community that is focused on the wellbeing and future of its students, of education, and of Dubai. The school recognises the importance that sleep plays in enabling better learning, as well as valuing wellbeing and innovation. We welcome the students, staff and parents of Bloom World Academy to the Dubai school community,” Dr Abdulla said.

Since opening its doors in August 2022, BWA has lived up to its progressive mindset and promise to put its pupils first and has dared to do things differently in its education offering. The school is the first in the UAE to shake up a number of traditional education rules and has introduced a number of initiatives such as a later school start time of 9.00 am, a flexible school day that allows for student learning to be in balance with family life and a truly customised education where students can create their own timetable tailored to their passions and interests. Building on its community focus, the school has also launched a weekly Friday Forum for parents, teachers and students to celebrate their successes.

Founding Principal of Bloom World Academy, John Bell said: “We are delighted to welcome Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the KHDA, to our inauguration ceremony. The feedback we’ve received about the school’s later start times and customised learning offering is incredibly positive and a testament to our promise of doing things differently. The overwhelming support we’ve received from our parents since we opened the school in August 2022 has allowed us to build a wonderful school community and a cohort of socially happy, emotionally attuned, and resilient students.”

Bloom World Academy is now accepting admissions for the current academic year, which has limited places available in certain year groups, as well as for 2023/24.
