ANNOUNCING THE WINNER OF THE DESIGN YOUR WORLD WALL ART COMPETITION!

by Belinda Breeze

Transforming a wall into a work of art can be a captivating way to add personality and creativity to a space. And following the announcement of Promote Your School’s ‘Design Your World’ competition in the last issue of Education UAE, students from all over the Emirates let their creativity flow, creating something unique and personal that would transform a wall or corridor within their own schools.

Selecting a winner in any artistic competition or exhibition can be a challenging task. Art is highly subjective, and different people have varied tastes and preferences. What one person may consider as the winner, another may have a different opinion. In this instance, judges considered elements such as artistic technique, originality, concept, execution, emotional impact, and the ability of the artwork to engage and resonate with viewers.

On the following pages, you will see a selection of the best artwork from students at Al Saad Indian School, Al Ain; the Australian School of Abu Dhabi; Delhi Private School, Sharjah; GEM United Indian School, Abu Dhabi; New Indian Model School, Dubai; Our Own English High School, Al Ain; and Summit International School, Abu Dhabi. It’s fair to say that the folks at Promote Your School were astonished at the creativity and choosing a winner was incredibly difficult, but that’s exactly what the judges had to do! Before we announce the winner, we must first thank each and every student who took part – you are all a credit to your school. And as a way of recognition and congratulations, each young artist will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Now, though, it’s time for the drum roll. The winner of the Design Your World competition is 11-year-old Kiefer Jospeh Torculas from Summit International School, Abu Dhabi! Kiefer’s piece made a strong impression, with the judges unanimously agreeing that it was exceptional and deserving of recognition. In the School’s Back edition of Education UAE, you will be able to see this artwork in situ on a wall at Kiefer’s school. So congratulations from Promote Your School and Education UAE, not only to Kiefer but to everyone who took part. There’s a lot of talent out there!
