Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai has announced the launch of a new Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems, designed to equip students with the skills required for careers at the intersection of business and technology.
The programme responds to the growing demand for technical talent as industries increasingly adopt artificial intelligence and digital processes.
Preparing Students for Future Careers
The BS MIS focuses on how organisations use data and digital tools to improve performance. Students will learn to analyse processes, apply information systems in decision making, and develop database systems that support business needs.
Unlike traditional computer science or information technology degrees, the MIS programme is designed to bridge business and technology. It equips students with both commercial understanding and technical awareness, preparing them for a wide range of roles.

Interdisciplinary Learning and Practical Experience
Students will gain exposure to business, analytics and computing disciplines, creating opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
As with all undergraduate programmes at RIT Dubai, the degree includes a mandatory cooperative education component. This provides structured work experience in professional environments, ensuring graduates develop practical skills alongside academic knowledge.
Accessible Approach to Technology Education
The programme is open to students without a prior background in coding or technical subjects. Concepts are introduced gradually, with a focus on real world application rather than engineering depth.
This approach allows students interested in both business and technology to explore the two fields within a single programme.
Building a Diverse Skillset
The curriculum complements existing business programmes at RIT Dubai, including Finance, Marketing and Global Business Management, by incorporating a strong focus on data and systems.
Students will develop skills in data analysis, database design, business process modelling, systems analysis and project management. Communication is also a key focus, particularly the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non technical audiences.
Dr Panagiotis Kokkalis, Associate Professor of Business and Management and Chair of the Business Department at RIT Dubai, highlighted the importance of the programme in today’s digital economy. He said,
“Organizations increasingly rely on data, enterprise systems, and digital platforms, yet there is often a gap between technical teams and business decision-makers. The MIS program is designed to bridge this gap by preparing graduates who can interpret business needs, communicate with technical specialists, and contribute to the implementation of effective systems.”
Career Opportunities and Future Pathways
Graduates of the programme will be well positioned for roles such as business analyst, data analyst, systems analyst, IT consultant, ERP specialist and digital transformation analyst.
The flexibility of the degree allows graduates to work across multiple industries where business and technology intersect, rather than being limited to a single career path.
The Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems is now open for applications for the Fall 2026 semester.
