Dates, Fees and What to Expect?
Thousands of students across schools in the UAE are preparing for one of the most significant academic milestones of their school journey: A Level examinations. As revision intensifies and pressure builds, students and parents are seeking clarity on key practical details, including exam dates, fees, grading and results timelines.
Here is a clear and easy to follow guide to everything students need to know about the 2026 A Level exam cycle.
When Will A Level Exams Take Place in 2026?
The 2026 A Level examinations will run from Monday, 11 May to Tuesday, 23 June. Individual subject timetables are issued by awarding bodies and should be checked directly through the relevant boards. These include Edexcel, AQA, Eduqas and WJEC, and CCEA. Schools will also share confirmed schedules with students closer to the exam period.
A Level Results Date for 2026
A Level results will be released on Thursday, 13 August 2026. Students will be able to access their results through their schools, with some centres also offering online result portals.
AS Level Exam Dates in 2026
AS Level examinations will take place within the same examination window as A Levels, running from Monday, 11 May to Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
Formula Sheets and Support Materials in A Levels
Unlike GCSEs, A Levels do not usually include formula or equation sheets. Students taking subjects such as Mathematics, Sciences or Economics are expected to memorise and apply key formulas unless a specific exam paper provides them.
The “cheat sheets” used in some GCSE subjects do not apply at AS Level or A Level.
A Level Exam Fees in the UAE
Students are required to pay exam fees for A Levels. Fees are determined by the awarding bodies and charged by schools or approved exam centres. In the UAE, A Level exam fees typically range from Dh350 to Dh900 per subject, depending on the board and subject. Some schools include these costs within tuition fees, while others charge them separately.
How Schools Can Support A Level Revision?
This is a high pressure period for students working towards grades that will shape future university and career pathways. Schools play a vital role by offering structured revision guidance, promoting healthy study routines and supporting students’ mental wellbeing. Research based revision strategies, clear subject guidance and pastoral support can make a meaningful difference during this demanding phase.
How A Levels Are Graded
A Levels use a letter grading system ranging from A* to E, with U standing for “ungraded”. There is no fixed number of students who can achieve each grade, as grade boundaries vary each year based on exam difficulty and overall performance. For AS Levels, where they continue to be offered, grades range from A to E, and there is no A* grade.
Most Popular A Level Subjects
In 2025, Mathematics remained the most popular A Level subject, with 112,138 entries, accounting for 12.7 per cent of all A Level entries. It was followed by Psychology with 75,943 entries and Biology with 71,400. Other subjects in the top ten included Chemistry, Business Studies, Physics, History, Sociology, and Art and Design.
