80 young golfers from across the UAE took part in the inaugural tournament held at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club

Brighton College Dubai is delighted to announce the outstanding results of its inaugural Brighton College Junior Open held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Sunday, 18th February.

With 80 participants from across the UAE, including nine pupils from Brighton College Dubai, the event saw a remarkable turn out. Starting in the Boys Gross Division A, Lukas Astrom of JGE returned a gross 3 over par 75 to win by a virtue of a count back against Victor Larsen of TEC. Hannah Alan representing DCGYC competed against Hayoon Oh of AZGC under the Girls Division A with a clear 3 shot win gross 75.

In the Boys Gross Division B the best gross round of the day belonged to Siddhaan Chhibber of TMGCD and took the leader board with an overwhelming 9 shot advantage from Ricardo Bianchi of JGE. The same leader board standing went to both participants in the Boys Net Division B, where they both shared an award.

In the Boys Net Division A, it was successfully won by Ibrahim Rahman of ARG who posted a net 71 to win by a single shot from the runner-up Samarbir Singh Kochar of JGE. The Girls Gross Division B was successfully defended by Ananyaa Sood from TEC by a mile against a potential candidate Leia Maccallum of TMGCD. In the Girls Division A, the best Net score of the day went to Candice Sauvan of ARGC. Candice consisted nines of 45 and 47 and a net score of 65.

The Girls Net Division B was another tight contest on a count back between Leia Maccallum TMGCD and Samaira Choudry EGC, a Year 6 Brighton College Dubai pupil. After running through the scores from the last nine holes of the course, Leia took the spoils with a net 33, edging out Samaira with a net 37.

Standout achievement of the day was Irum Kim, who scored a remarkable hole-in-one – a significant feat.

This first-of-its-kind tournament organised by Brighton College Dubai and open to all amateur golfers ages 19 years and below with a valid handicap from Emirates Golf Federation or any affiliated club, featured a competitive Individual Stroke Play format over 18 holes. Given the high demand, a handicap ballot was conducted to finalise the field of 80 players.

Mr Simon Crane, Head Master at Brighton College Dubai, expressed his pride in the pupils’ achievements, saying, “It’s fantastic to see our pupils shine on the golf course. This tournament marks the beginning of their journey, and we’re grateful to Arabian Ranches Golf Club for providing a platform for these young talents. We look forward to witnessing more successful future golfing events!”

The tournament featured various categories, including Boys and Girls Gross and Net Divisions age 10-13 and age 14+ and special events such as Nearest The Pin challenges added an extra layer of excitement to the competition, showcasing the diverse skills of the participating young golfers.

The awards ceremony and dinner took place at the Arabian Ranches, where participants, parents, and supporters gathered to celebrate the achievements of these young golfers.
