Dubai student gives back to communities in India

Seventeen-year-old student Kashish Sancheti is demonstrating that empathy can drive meaningful change with the launch of an inspiring social initiative to educate underprivileged children in rural India. A senior at GEMS Modern Academy in Dubai and a mentee of university admissions experts UniHawk, Kashish is on a mission to equip children with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century workforce.

Voices of Vision: Education for Empowerment

With support from UniHawk and in partnership with her co-founder Yug Sancheti, Kashish established Voices of Vision, a free programme designed to strengthen communication and computer literacy among children aged 8 to 14.

The initiative provides online mentoring, structured lessons in English and technology, and certifications in Microsoft Office delivered by professionals who prepare students for the increasingly digital world of work.

Inspiring Change Through Experience

Kashish’s idea was born during a visit to India, where she was moved by the resilience and potential of children from marginalised communities.

Kashish Sancheti said:

“I wanted to create a structured way to support these children through education and provide guidance to build strong academic foundations,”

So far, Voices of Vision has delivered two successful programmes across India, combining online and in-person workshops. The sessions aim not only to develop skills but also to build confidence and long-term aspirations. The next phase includes the introduction of vision boards to help students define their goals, and a peer mentoring network linking them with older high school mentors who share similar interests.

Expanding the Impact

Kashish and her team now plan to expand the programme further.

Kashish Sancheti added:

“We hope to secure funding and sponsorships to scale the initiative,” she said. “Seeing their joy and curiosity as they learn and grow is a fulfilling experience. Giving back has helped me grow as a person too.”

Outside Voices of Vision, Kashish is a passionate athlete, competing in tennis and basketball, while volunteering at the Dubai Schools Games to support children of determination. She continues to balance academics, sport, and her commitment to social impact.

Working closely with UniHawk, she is preparing a compelling university portfolio for undergraduate applications in the United States, where she hopes to study architecture.

Kashish concluded:

“UniHawk has made the university application journey more strategic and less overwhelming, they have supported me academically and personally, inspiring me to expand my social impact work.”

For Kashish, the mission remains clear: to empower young people, one child at a time, to imagine and build brighter futures.
