‘Swim for Clean Seas’

The swimming event ‘Swim for Clean Seas’ in collaboration with the Yas SeaWorld® Research & Rescue Center, is making its return this weekend at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi on Sunday the 21st of April from 6:30am to 10:00am.


In collaboration with Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center as our environmental partner and our first ever presentation of the works by the first cohort of Swim for Clean Seas School Ambassadors.

This edition also sees the return of our Guinness Book records holder Swim for Clean Seas Ambassador Dr Sarra Lajnef OLY – all coming together for our joint love of the sea.

IMPORTANT TIMINGS

  • 06:00 am Registration and check in at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort 06:45 am 3,200m swim
  • 07:45 am 1,600m swim
  • 08:15 am 800m swim
  • 08:40 am 400m swim
  • 09:00 am 200m swim
  • 09:15 am Yas Sea World Research & Rescue Speech by Dr. Elise Marquiz 09:25 Podium presentations + Raffle

We will be holding a warm up session on the beach for all participants so keep an eye out on the day for that moment

Please be aware that timings may vary slightly and should be used as a guide only.

GAMES FOR THE KIDS

8:10 – 9 AM

We will be planning a few educational games for the kids – interactive and fun as organised by Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue’s very own Erin Eaton!
And maybe a walk along to hunt for shells and seaweed. Learn how to identify the signs of life that you come across.
Great for kids of all ages

FINISH LINE
Medals will be handed out at the finish line. Please ensure you remove and return your timing chip. Please wait for the presentations and talks when the swims complete and spend the time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful Saadiyat beach front.

AWARD CEREMONY
Raffle and Medal presentations will be held at 9:25 AM. Please stay around for the speech, raffle and podium presentation.


SPECTATORS
We love to see family and friends supporting participants out on the beach and would appreciate your understanding in observing the following guidelines:

  • Please keep young children well clear of the start-finish area.
  • Do not obstruct or get in the way of participants – for your safety and theirs.
  • Please be supportive and help to make this a memorable day for our competitors.
  • Clap and cheer as you help to bring your family and friends home after their champion effort.

OTHER INFO

  • First Aid station – will be located on the beach at the entry into the water
    Parking – is available in the Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort underground parking area and is just a short walk to the registration desk and beach start area
  • Timing chips, bibs and results – timing will be provided by My Race Result and timing chips will be supplied in your race packs.
  • Results will be posted online on www.swimforcleanseas or on this link here.
  • Food & Beverage – Light snacks, fruits, juices and tea and coffee will be served on race day
