SUAD community celebrating health and inclusion through Pink October initiatives

Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) hosted the Pink October Fitness Challenge on 23 October, promoting health, inclusion and community spirit while raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and early detection.

Promoting Health and Team Spirit

The challenge brought together 111 competitors across 37 teams, including Persons of Determination, students, staff, volunteers and supporters, in a dynamic competition featuring cardio, strength and team-based challenges that tested agility, endurance and teamwork.

Winners of the event included Nikita Oanta, Abdelraheem Mohammednoor and Haroun Di Caprio, who secured first place in the Men and Mixed category, and Julie Kiwan, Karina Denisova and Iliana Maleck, who achieved first place in the Women’s category, recognised for their outstanding performance across all challenges.

Raising Awareness through Action

Throughout October, SUAD activated a series of initiatives to raise awareness about breast cancer and promote early detection, reinforcing the university’s commitment to the health and well-being of its community.

A key highlight was the Breast Cancer Awareness Day, delivered collaboratively by the Student Council, Women Empowerment Club and Humanitarian Club. The event featured student-led activities, wellness sessions and interactive booths designed to educate, inspire proactive health choices and connect participants with essential support resources.

Leadership and Commitment

Dr Majed Al Khemeiri, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, said:

“We are proud to bring the SUAD community together through this dynamic fitness challenge, a powerful reminder that well-being, knowledge and collective action can drive real impact. By promoting both active lifestyle and the importance of early cancer detection, we’re empowering our community to support one another and champion lasting well-being.”
