Play Your Part in Tackling Major Water Issues and Win a Visit to Stockholm!

Water Alliance, your local nonprofit organisation, raising awareness on the value of water, is delighted to offer an exciting challenge opportunity for school students, and is calling on teachers to get their students involved.

Primary and secondary students from across the UAE are invited to join the second edition of the RE-NEW Challenge. Spread the word!

Students who come onboard will have the opportunity to get their hands on amazing prizes, win their way to international initiativesand play their part in helping to solve important water issues.The challenge age category groups are Junior (8-11), Middle (12-14) and Senior (15-20).


First place winner of the Junior categorywill receive an AED 3,000 cash prize


What is it? A water innovation challenge calling UAE school students aged 8-20 to ideate solutions tackling a water issue of their choice (water scarcity, water pollution, water access) locally or globally.

What is in it for your students? The RE-NEW Challenge offers your students an international voice.

  • First place winner(s) from the Senior category will represent the UAE at the prestigious Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) contest. The student(s) will travel to Stockholm during World Water Week in August 2022 to participate in the week-long cultural exchange programme with national winners from over 40 other nations. The international SJWP winner will receive $15,000 and a crystal sculpture presented by the crown princess Victoria of Sweden.
  • First place winner(s) within the Middle category will automatically enter Xylem Ignite Innovation Incubator six-month programme to learn how to potentially commercialize their solution.
  • Finalists from the Senior and Middle categorieswill enter Xylem REACH Student global Hackathon and will compete for a pool of $7,000 in cash prizes.
  • First place winner of the Junior category will receive an AED 3,000 cash prizeto be invested in a solution that will help improve water management at the winner’s school.

Enrollment and participation are free of charge. When registering, students have the option to request a personalized e-certificate of recognition subject to a nominal fee. Timeline: Encourage your students to register before the 15January 2022 for them to profit from the series of innovation workshops scheduled 17-31 January. The final deadline for students to submit their solutions is on 15 February. 

Shortlisted finalists will be assigned a professional mentor to support and enhance their water solution. Finalists are invited to submit a video pitch to the judging panel. The Award Ceremony will take placeat the USA Pavilion, Expo 2020, on 22 March 2022.
