Esports education in UAE took centre stage last week as EStars hosted a dynamic two-day programme at Yas Creative Hub, welcoming students from the British International School Abu Dhabi (BIS) and Nord Anglia International School Dubai (NAS Dubai).
Day 1: BIS Students Explore Esports for the First Time
On Tuesday 10 June, an eager group of Year 9 students from BIS Abu Dhabi participated in the EStars Esports Certificate 2: Esports Then, Now and The Future. For many, this was their first exposure to structured esports education—an immersive journey into the industry’s evolution.
From its humble beginnings at Stanford University to today’s billion-dollar global tournaments like the Esports World Cup, students built personal esports timelines reflecting their gaming histories and preferences. The session concluded with a competitive Kahoot quiz, measuring knowledge gain. Results spoke for themselves—students improved by an average of 130%, with one standout jumping from 3/12 to a perfect score.
Following the workshop, the students toured the Yas Creative Hub’s cutting-edge facilities, including recording studios, podcast suites, a cinema room, and a greenscreen studio. The day ended with a high-energy Rocket League tournament, where students embraced various esports roles—shoutcasters, team coaches, and players—bringing the industry to life.

Day 2: NAS Dubai Dives into Sports vs. Esports
On Wednesday 11 June, EStars welcomed Year 5 and 6 students from NAS Dubai for their fourth EStars Certificate, titled “A Comparison Between Esports and Traditional Sports.” These students had already completed the first three certificates as part of an after-school programme and came prepared to impress.
They analysed similarities and differences between esports and traditional sports—delving into training routines, time investments, equipment, and competition formats. Their creativity shone through in tasks like designing futuristic gear for athletes and esports players, as well as logos for the upcoming Esports Olympics in 2027.
The day concluded with another spirited Rocket League final, where even teachers joined the action. Broadcast on the big screen at the Hub, the match drew an enthusiastic crowd of classmates cheering on their peers.
