Karan Brown, Director of Education at Numu Nursery, is pioneering a future-focused approach to early childhood education in Dubai. With more than 30 years of experience across the Middle East and India, Karan is known for her neuroscience-informed philosophy and her deep commitment to building nurturing, emotionally secure environments for young learners.

At Numu Nursery, education is about far more than school readiness. Under Karan’s guidance, the nursery’s curriculum is built around the Neuro-Mapped British EYFS framework — a research-driven model inspired by leading academic institutions such as Harvard University. Here, learning begins with empathy. “Real learning happens through connection,” explains Karan. “That back-and-forth between adult and child, what we call ‘Serve and Return,’ is where the brain is truly shaped.”

This core belief underpins everything at Numu. Rather than prioritising worksheets or screen-based academics, children engage in responsive, relationship-based experiences that nurture their sense of safety, belonging, and curiosity. Whether they’re exploring with LEGO Education kits, programming toys, or tactile puzzles, technology at Numu supports — but never replaces — human interaction.

Redefining Early Years Through Leadership, Empathy and Innovation

Karan’s warm, whole-child approach is matched by a proven record of educational leadership. She has held senior roles at prominent institutions including GEMS Education, KBBO Group, and Al Najah Education, contributing to school launches, academic strategy, and KHDA/ADEK licensing across the region. In every setting, her hallmark is combining strategic excellence with genuine care — for children, educators, and families alike.

Holding a Master of Arts, a Bachelor of Education, and Cambridge Program Leader certification, Karan remains a lifelong learner. But what sets her apart most is her heart. “The first thousand days of life are the most powerful in shaping who we become,” she says. “What we do with those days matters, deeply.”

Now expanding across Dubai, Numu Nursery — whose name means “to grow” in Arabic — is more than a learning space. It’s a centre of care, connection, and curiosity. Under Karan’s leadership, early childhood becomes not just a phase but a joyful, transformative journey where every child is seen, supported, and inspired.
