Rashed Mohammed Atiq Almehairi Wins 126 km Race in Romania
Canadian University Dubai (CUD) student Rashed Mohammed Atiq Almehairi has made the UAE proud after being crowned World Champion at the FEI Endurance World Championships held in Buftea, Romania. The Accounting and Finance student clinched the title following a demanding 126 km race, strengthening the UAE’s position as a global leader in endurance sport.

From Passion to World Champion
Rashed began his journey in endurance racing in 2021 at the age of 16. In just four years, he has competed in numerous races across the UAE and internationally, collecting several victories and podium finishes. Now aged 20, he has added one of the sport’s most prestigious titles to his growing list of achievements.
Reflecting on his journey, Rashed said,
“I’ve loved horses since I was a child. I actually can’t remember my life without them. Riding was always part of me, and over time, I wanted to take it to a more professional level. My biggest inspirations have always been His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Their passion and dedication to endurance racing really motivate me. Seeing how much they care about the sport inspires me to do my best every time I compete.”
A Dream Come True
Speaking about his recent victory, he said,
“Crossing that finish line and realising I was World Champion was a dream come true. It’s more than just winning a medal; it’s the result of years of hard work, dedication, long training days, and the support of my family, team, and country. It’s something I’ll never forget.”
Rashed’s triumph adds to the UAE’s proud legacy in endurance racing.
“The UAE has always been strong in endurance, and I’m proud to add to that history. Winning shows the world that our riders and horses are among the best. It reflects the vision and support of our leadership. Endurance is all about preparation, and our team trained nonstop. Every challenge we faced made us stronger on race day,” he shared.
Balancing Study and Sport
As a student-athlete, Rashed balances his studies and rigorous training with determination and discipline. He credits much of his success to the encouragement he receives from Canadian University Dubai.
“CUD has been very supportive of me as both a student and an athlete. Balancing studies and sport isn’t easy, but my professors and classmates always motivate me. Being at CUD taught me how to manage my time and stay focused. I’m proud to represent my university while pursuing my passion for endurance racing,” he said.
Words of Inspiration

Rashed closed with advice for aspiring athletes and students:
“Nothing is impossible. Success takes patience and hard work. If you have a goal, focus on it and learn from every challenge. In the end, you only ever compete against yourself, whether it’s in sports, studies, or life.”
His inspiring story reflects the resilience and ambition that continue to define the UAE’s next generation of champions, both in the classroom and beyond.
