AURAK Highlights Rising Demand for Electrical and Electronics Engineers

American University of Ras Al Khaimah has highlighted the growing global demand for electrical and electronics engineers as industries continue to undergo rapid technological transformation worldwide.

The university is responding to evolving industry requirements through its Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme, which offers concentrations in Robotics and Avionics to equip students with future-ready skills aligned with the demands of the modern economy.

Electrical and electronics engineers play a critical role in designing and maintaining the systems that support renewable energy infrastructure, telecommunications, healthcare technologies and advanced manufacturing. As industries increasingly adopt smart systems, automation and sustainable technologies, demand for highly skilled professionals in this field continues to rise globally.

“The rising global demand for electrical and electronics engineers reflects the central role these professionals play in shaping a sustainable, technology-driven future. At AURAK, we are committed to equipping our students with the knowledge, skills, and innovative mindset required to lead in this dynamic field. Our programme is designed to align with industry needs while empowering graduates to contribute meaningfully to the UAE’s knowledge-based economy and beyond.”

Global Industry Growth Driving Demand

According to global industry data from Research and Markets, the electrical and electronics sector is projected to reach a value of $5.61 trillion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9 per cent.

This growth is being driven by the expansion of renewable energy projects, increasing use of smart sensors and intelligent control systems, as well as the rapid development of electric vehicles and industrial automation technologies.

In response to these developments, AURAK’s Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme combines academic theory with practical application to prepare students for careers in emerging industries.

Focus on Robotics and Aviation Innovation

A key feature of the programme is its specialisation in Robotics, which enables students to design, develop and programme advanced robotic systems for a wide range of industrial applications.

AURAK has also introduced a new Avionics and Aviation 4.0 Concentration in collaboration with Aviation Australia Group. The addition is designed to support the growing aviation sector, which is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 7 per cent, according to Fortune Business Insights.

“Our Electrical and Electronics Engineering programme combines strong academic foundations with practical, real-world experience. The integration of emerging areas such as robotics, avionics, and Aviation 4.0 ensures that our graduates are not only job-ready but also capable of driving innovation across multiple industries. We aim to nurture engineers who can adapt, lead, and excel in a rapidly evolving global landscape.”

International Accreditation and Industry Partnerships

The programme is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), ensuring it meets internationally recognised standards for academic quality and industry relevance.

In July 2025, AURAK signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s leading professional organisation for advancing technology. The collaboration aims to promote best practices, strengthen professional standards and encourage innovation across technical and technological sectors.
