by Eddie Rayner

The University of Birmingham Dubai has launched two new MSc Sports Science programmes, MSc Physical Education and Wellbeing and MSc Sports Coaching, to address the particular existing needs and knowledge gaps across the region.

The MSc Physical Education and Wellbeing is a nationally and internationally relevant evidence-based programme applicable to primary, second, and further education, with Accredited Prior Learning for postgraduate degrees (e.g., PGCE).

The course seeks to support the continuing professional development of practising and prospective physical education teachers, youth physical activity leaders, assistants and/or coaches working with young people in schools. The distinctiveness and knowledge of students graduating from the qualification will place them in an ideal position to inform the future direction of the profession by taking leadership positions and challenging current practices and/or by engaging in further study at PhD level.

The part-time MSc Sport Coaching course is a unique development in sports coaching. It seeks to develop high-quality coaches in a research-active environment, with Accredited Prior Learning for postgraduate degrees (e.g., PGCE).
