Acclaimed Emirati author, Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan, will participate in both this year’s Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) and Paris Book Fair, ‘Livre Paris’, to officially launch her latest book, ‘The Horse, The Saluki, & The Falcon’. Sheikha Salama made her debut as a writer in 2019 with her first book ‘The Invisible Orphans’, followed by four additional children’s books that pay homage to the author’s Emirati heritage and culture.
ADIBF, the most prestigious and diverse book fair in the region, aims to shed light on the UAE’s rich heritage and culture, showcasing the country’s authenticity and modernity through the participation and recognition of distinguished authors. Inaugurated 29 years ago by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the book fair has gained a global reputation as a leading literary trade and cultural event in the region. This year it is set to take place from 23-29 May.
The Horse, The Saluki & The Falcon is a collection of quotes that aims to shed light on the universe’s positivity and on the silver linings of the life we lead during a period of growing uncertainty globally. The book pays homage to her homeland, taking celebrated animals from Emirati culture and turning them into icons of wisdom that impart lessons in empathy, love, and kindness. Taking stylistic inspiration from Charlie Mackesy’s critically acclaimed book, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse, Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza AlNahyan takes her knack of weaving insight into prose. This latest release charts the author’s crossover into fiction for a more mature audience.
