Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has launched a new guide that encourages schools to be ‘fully-inclusive’.
All private schools will now have to ensure the formation of an inclusion support team to support the principal in achieving a vision of inclusive education. This includes moving away from the medical model of assessing any special needs and instead creating life-defining experiences for students of determination and their families.
The measures are being introduced as part of Dubai’s move to become a fully-inclusive city by 2020, and are part of a new process aimed at creating system-wide change.
