Emirates International School

by Eddie Rayner

A learning community where students are respectful, empowered to think critically and creatively, and to show resilience as they work towards their goals, Emirates International School (EIS) provides a broad, holistic international education that ensures all students are happy, safe and successful in everything that they do.

The inclusive environment and innovative inquiry-based learning on campus fully prepare students for the future, providing them with the skills to become highly successful 21st-century global citizens.

EIS, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021, follows the International Baccalaureate programme, allowing students to have high-quality opportunities to engage with a balanced and relevant curriculum, which instils in them the importance of aiming high and achieving academic excellence.

The school is rightly proud of its students, who consistently achieve above national and international benchmarks in their external assessments at both DP and MYP. A focus on excellence in teaching and learning dictates that students gain a passion for life-long learning and a commitment to do their very best in both academic and non-academic pursuits.

All students have access to quality resources that enable them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. Teachers use their in-depth knowledge of each student to create personalised learning programmes that meet their needs and help them make academic and personal progress.

EIS believes in a robust home-school partnership and strives to engage parents, providing a broad array of opportunities to play an impactful role in their child’s life. The school operates an open-door policy and values the contributions of its parent community.

There is a no-tolerance approach to bullying of any kind, with students’ concerns always taken seriously and addressed immediately. EIS passionately believes in creating a safe, supportive and caring environment where all students can thrive.

Typical post-pandemic class sizes are 25 students with a fully qualified classroom teacher. An additional classroom assistant supports Early Years and Lower Primary School classes. In other Year Groups, additional teaching support is strategically deployed to ensure that all students can successfully access their learning programme.

Delivering an engaging range of after-school activities to cater to students’ needs and interests and nurture their holistic development, EIS also has fantastic National Day and International Day celebrations. These amazing events provide an opportunity for the school’s community to participate in a range of culturally rich and vibrant activities that showcases not only its pride in living in the UAE but also its global diversity.

The EIS vision is for its students to excel and thrive in a happy, safe and successful environment and for both of its campuses to obtain a KHDA Outstanding rating by 2025.
