Dubai Airports has pledged to ban single-use plastics from consumer spaces at the world’s busiest international airport effective 1 January, 2020.
Banned items will include plastic utensils, bags, and paper receipts, along with straws, which is among the most overused at the airport. On World Environment Day, the pledge prevented the distribution of over 150,000 straws, the equivalent of 30,000 metres of plastic.
