Covid-19: Sharjah Schools 100% Online for Two weeks

by Eddie Rayner

Sharjah has announced 100% distance learning for all public and private schools, starting from 14 February and going through to 28 February. The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) has confirmed that this shift to e-learning will apply to all students in the emirate, including those in nursery schools.

The decision has been taken as part of Covid-19 precautionary measures and after the approval of the emirate’s local emergency, crisis and disaster management team (ECDMT). All Sharjah schools are well equipped for virtual classes, with 90% of students having studied remotely for quite some time.

The attendance of teaching and administrative staff at schools will be left to the discretion of individual management teams. However, all precautionary measures must be followed, including PCR tests every two weeks.

Educational, administrative and technical staff have been called on to get the vaccine during this e-learning period to ensure the safe return of face-to-face classes.

In addition to Sharjah, Ajman has also moved to full-time distant learning.
