‘Bringing schools week to you’: Middlesex University Dubai hosts virtual week ahead of the new academic year

by Eddie Rayner

Ahead of the new academic year this autumn, Middlesex University Dubai is helping to ensure prospective students get an immersive glimpse of their future student experience by hosting a ‘Schools Week’; a packed programme of events including virtual open days, meet-and-greets, competitions, interactive workshops and guest lectures, just before schools are out for Summer!

In what has been an extraordinary second part of the academic year, students are in a position where they need to decide whether they can continue with their original plans to study overseas in the UK, US or elsewhere. It is clear this is a critical and life changing decision that is at the forefront of the mind of most families across the UAE and the globe.

Schools Week is focused on answering all the uncertainties whilst at the same time showcasing how Middlesex University Dubai could be an option for September 2020, due to a range of different benefits that prospective students will be able to discover during the highly interactive and engaging week of activities. Prospective students can explore the courses they are interested in and attend sessions on accommodation and student life while discovering the benefits of studying for UK degree locally.

The Schools Week will include the chance to meet current faculty, students and alumni from a range of different schools across the UAE, who will explain their transition from school to university and provide a taste of life as a Middlesex Dubai student.

Students can take a virtual tour through Middlesex University’s state-of-the-art facilities including the Icon Studio, Graphic Design Labs, MDX Film Lab, Robotics Lab, Study Lounges and HUB19 – featuring a Music Room, Dance Studio, Student Lounge and Gaming Room, and discover where they might spend the next step of their educational journey.

Prizes are also up for grabs, with a series of competitions and special grants and givea-ways, including scholarships and grants for the lucky winners.

Whether students are studying for a degree in Business, Art and Design, Science and Technology, Health and Education, Law, or Media, Schools Week aims to offer students the chance to listen to subject presentations, connect with students and staff and get a feel for the University, all from the comfort of their own home.

During the week-long programme of events, prospective students will be able to interact with its faculty through a range of different communication channels – including WhatsApp, phone, email, Live Chat, a chat via social media channels – and take part in a Virtual Admissions Consultation and Virtual Parents Q and A Sessions where faculty will also be able to share the benefits of studying for an international degree at Middlesex University Dubai

The university offers safe and secure surroundings and a wide variety of programmes – and students who choose to pursue their academic journey at Middlesex University Dubai are also being offered the opportunity to transfer to its home campus in London in September 2021.

Other benefits include a unique and exciting student experience, superior student accommodation, a simplified student visa process, end-to-end career support, the option to work during study, flexible payment plans, and a wealth of networking opportunities through the university’s strong links within industries.

Dr Cedwyn Fernandes, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of Middlesex University Dubai, said: “At Schools Week, you’ll learn what life as a student at Middlesex University Dubai is all about. This is your opportunity to get ready for your course, meet the faculty, explore the facilities and start making friends – even before lectures begin.
